Are you looking for a fun, yummy Valentine’s Day snack made with Rice Krispies? Do you remember making Rice Krispy Treats when you were younger? That ooey-gooey batch of deliciousness! If you’re one of the many people that do, you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to share with you a recipe for a special Valentine’s Day snack that your kids (and adult family members) will love. Keep reading to find a recipe for these yummy Valentine’s Day Rice Krispy Treats which are perfect for home or the classroom. The thing that I love about these treats is that they are fairly easy to make and they are the perfect snack size for little hands!
Getting started
You will need the following ingredients:
- 1 box of Rice Krispies
- 1 bag of marshmallows
- 1 stick of butter
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter (small)
- Parchment paper
- Candy melts (chocolate, pink and white)
- Sprinkles (Valentine’s Day colors)

Preparing the mixture
First, prepare the Rice Krispy Treats according to the directions on the cereal box. When all mixed together, take half of the mix and lay it out on top of parchment paper on a cookie tray. Take a little bit of butter and rub onto palms of both hands. This is needed so that the gooey mixture doesn’t stick to you. Press this mixture down so that it becomes flat, around a half an inch thick. When flattened, place in refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
While you are chilling that mixture, take the left over batch and again rub your hands with a tiny bit of butter. Using a teaspoon, scoop some of the Rice Krispy mixture from the bowl and form into balls using your hands. Just like you are making meatballs! Continue this process until all of the mixture is used. Remove flattened mixture from refrigerator and put the Krispy balls in there for the same amount of time.

Next, melt 3 tablespoons of butter in microwave. Set on counter next to where you will be using your heart-shaped cookie cutters. Dip your cookie cutter into the melted butter so that it coats the sides, which will make it easier to use and not stick. Press the cookie cutter into the flattened Rice Krispy tray forming hearts. Carefully remove from cutter and set aside. Continue with this process, dipping the cookie cutter into the butter each time to avoid sticking.

Get ready to decorate!
Lastly, prepare your candy melts according to package directions. Put sprinkles in a small bowl. Now it’s time to decorate! You can decorate whichever ones you want to do first, the balls or hearts, it’s up to you. To decorate the balls, dip into candy color of choice and then dip into sprinkles. Place on parchment paper to set. For the hearts, dip half of the heart into chocolate (or color of choice), and then into sprinkles, if desired. Just an FYI, I found the chocolate candy melts the easiest to work with. The white and pink did not seem as soft and did not work as nicely as the chocolate. Hopefully you will have better luck with that!
When completed, store them in a plastic container to ensure freshness!

PS: Don’t forget to let your kids help, especially the decorating part!
I hope you enjoy making these special treats and most of all, EATING THEM!
